How Buyers Should Evaluate Rechargeable Fan Battery Runtime
Battery runtime is one of the most important selling points of a rechargeable fan—and one of the easiest specifications to misunderstand. Buyers should ask how the number was measured, not only how large it looks.
Ask for energy in watt-hours
mAh cannot be compared correctly without voltage. Request the battery pack voltage and capacity, then review the total energy in watt-hours. This makes it easier to compare different battery configurations.
For example, two products may both claim 10,000 mAh while using different pack voltages. Their stored energy and expected runtime can therefore be different.
Match runtime to speed level
Fan power consumption rises with speed. A runtime measured at the lowest speed should not be presented as the expected result at maximum speed.
Ask for a runtime table covering at least low, medium and high speed. For mist models, request separate results with and without the mist function.
Understand the test conditions
A useful test report should state the starting charge level, room temperature, speed setting, oscillation status, LED or USB use, mist status and the point at which the test ended.
Battery protection may stop the fan before the battery is fully empty. That is normal, but the cut-off behavior should be consistent.
Test samples independently
Fully charge at least two or three samples using the supplied adapter. Run each at fixed settings and record start time, speed changes, unusual heat, noise and shutdown time.
Repeat the charge-discharge cycle. One good result does not prove production consistency.
Check charging time and temperature
A large battery is not automatically better if it requires excessive charging time. Compare adapter output, charging circuit and battery energy together.
During sample testing, inspect adapter temperature, battery-area temperature and whether the fan can operate safely while charging.
Verify production units before shipment
A full runtime test on every unit is usually impractical, but production inspection can check battery voltage, charging function, current draw and a selected sample of extended runtime tests.
Keep approved sample data and inspection criteria in the purchase specification so that the supplier and inspector use the same standard.
